26th Annual Cambridge Good Scout Luncheon

Good Scout Awards to Richard C. Rossi and Dr. Carolyn L. Turk
The Boston Minuteman Council, Boy Scouts of America, hosted its 26th Annual Cambridge Good Scout Luncheon on at the Hyatt Regency on June 16. This annual event honors individuals for outstanding contributions to Scouting and the community.

The Lady Baden-Powell Award was presented to Enza Sambataro-Youkilis for her work with children. As the co-founder and President of Kevin Youkilis’s “Hits for Kids,” Sambataro-Youkilis has spent most of her adult life working to give back to children in need. She actively plans fundraising and charitable events and is personally involved with the children served by “Hits for Kids.” The Lady Baden-Powell Award was named for Olave Baden-Powell, wife of Robert Baden-Powell, founder of Boy Scouts. Lady Baden-Powell was instrumental in furthering the aims of Scouting throughout the world. The Lady Baden-Powell Award is given to distinguished women who have had a significant impact on area youth through service to others, community leadership, and personal example. Past recipients include Reverend Gloria White Hammond, Shonda Schilling, Regina Pisa, and First Lady of Massachusetts Diane Patrick.
The Good Scout Award was presented to Richard C. Rossi, Deputy City Manager and Dr. Carolyn L. Turk, Interim Superintendent of Cambridge Public Schools. The award honors those who unselfishly serve others. Rossi, a former Scout, was honored for his tireless efforts to improve the City of Cambridge including the construction of parks and infrastructure. Dr. Turk was honored for her longstanding commitment to inclusion and unity. The Good Scout award honors both Rossi and Dr. Turk for their positive impact on the citizens of Cambridge. Past recipients of the Good Scout Award include C. Brendan Noonan, Martha Coakley, and Marvin Gilmore.
The luncheon was co-chaired by Denise Simmons, Mayor of the City of Cambridge; Joseph V. Roller, II, President and CEO of the Cambridge Trust Company; and Denise Jillson, Executive Director of the Harvard Square Business Association.
For over 25 years, this annual luncheon and awards ceremony has raised money for Scouting in Cambridge. This year, the luncheon raised over $35,000 which will enable hundreds of local Scouts to participate in camping, outdoor, and other Scouting programs.
